They don’t know the passcode you use, so you can’t access your data, and that means if someone was able to hack into iCloud, they couldn’t access your data either. I’d become accustomed to using them with LastPass, and there have been times I really missed them. All of my devices have the Apple logo on them, but if you have a Windows computer or Android device in your life, it won’t work there, and for a password manager to be effective, it needs to work on every device you use. It’s safe and secure, but limited in some areas. It remembers all of my passwords, makes them available on all of my devices, and fills them in automatically.
I wanted to discover for myself whether Apple’s solution was up to the task, and I’m surprised at how well it has met my needs. Before that, I used LastPass and loved it.
I’ve been using it to manage my passwords for the last few years. Everyone needs a password manager, and Apple installs iCloud Keychain on every computer and mobile device they sell. That’s too many to remember, and I shouldn’t keep a list in my desk drawer or just use the same one for every website. That’s good because I’ve got a lot-over 200 right now.
